Thunder Struck
Through a simple real estate
connection @ Keller Williams, local realtors were chosen to do photography for
an event that is in hopes to make a BIG difference in Oklahoma. Troy and Denise
Schroder, also have a photography company, Schroder Photography. They were
chosen for the event photography for the Inaugural Event to End Hunger. Denise even
got to do a mini session with Russell Westbrook himself. “It was an incredible
honor for Troy and I to meet and personally photograph Westbrook. But better yet, to be a part of such a impactful mission
to end hunger in our state. We intend to challenge our local restaurants to get
involved. ” Denise’s son, Connor McPherson was disappointed he did not get to
tag along at the event. Connor is an Edmond North student. He knew Media day
was going to be at the Thunder Training facility today due to being a coach for
a youth league that practices there. He waited outside for the players to
depart. He took it upon himself to meet one of his all time idols, Kevin
Durant. He approached him and was able to visit with him and got his autograph
on a Sports Illustrated issue Durant was
featured in. He was also photographed with Nick Collison and Reggie Jackson. We
are truly blessed to have OKC Thunder here in OKC. What a group of humble,
incredible individuals! And a shout out to Kevin Durant,
“Thanks for making a dream come true for my son today!” What an experience for this whole family this week as they were all THUNDERSTRUCK!

Westbrook has teamed up with the
Needs Foundation and is their spokesperson.
Needs Foundation is a non-profit, Oklahoma based, family operated
foundation. They collect unserved food from local restaurants and food
establishments at the end of each day that would otherwise been thrown out. This
food is sanitary, untouched and perfectly edible. Then, the food is distributed
to needy families and the homeless.
Oklahoma is the 4th hungriest state in the nation. The Needs
foundation is one of the first in about 20 years to tackle perishable foods. They
are also the only organization to deliver to the needy, bypassing the lengthy
application process and long trail of necessary paperwork. This foundation can
do this while also still maintaining all health code regulations.
On average restaurants throw out
about 25 pounds of food per day per restaurant. Oklahoma has 9500 restaurants.
If we could collect 25 lbs. of food from just 40% of the restaurants that would
generate 95,000 of food per day. This equates to 2,850,000 lbs of food per
month. With these numbers we could change the hunger in Oklahoma.
